WHAT: The Chinatown Family Resource Center Collaborative welcomes all families to join the fun at our carnival block party in celebration of children and families. The event is FREE and OPEN to all. We expect a turn out of 200+ people. The block party will include performances and fun, unique activities for family with children from 0-5 years old as well as 5-12+ years old. Children will be entertained with a variety of acts from a 🤹 juggler and clown, 🕺🏻children dance disco, 🎶 a Guzheng performance, and our favorite lion dance 🦁! Throughout the fair, there will be planned festivities for all ages. A petting zoo with beloved goats, ducks, chicken and rabbits 🐰 will give young kids the opportunity to learn about farm animals. Older children will learn how to make a smoothie by pedaling a bike 🚲. In the process, they will learn about innovation, as well as the importance of movement and nutrition.  🎈A balloon artist will amaze everyone with their twisted balloon shapes.  Finally, everyone will get moving at the hula hoops play workshop ⭕️.

WHY: The pandemic's forced lock-down severely impacted the ability for families to know/seek available resources, programs & services. It especially crushed communities that are recovering from lived experiences that were largely defined by racialized identities and chronic marginalization. This block party is funded by SF Department of Early Childhood for the purpose of creating a fun welcoming event for all families in SF to learn about, and access our city's Family Resource Center initiatives.
