Event Description:

Join us for a H(Api) Hour Spotlight on Korean artist Jun Yang. The event will include a speaking portion where we will get to know the life and journey of Jun, and get in-depth descriptions of his art work and hear his story. After, we will enjoy light bites, drinks, mingling, and the opportunity to ask more questions to Jun and his work.

About the Artist: Jun Yang, a self-taught artist from Seoul, now calls San Francisco home after 14 years. His paintings, murals and textile sculptures draw inspiration from his own experience, the city's rich cultural diversity and its supportive queer community. Jun combines his art with activism, reflects his personal journey and advocates for LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights by celebrating inclusivity and solidarity he’s found in San Francisco while exposing ongoing struggles.

Strike-Slip Gallery is more than just a space for exhibitions; it's a hub for art appreciation and exploration. They host various events, from artist talks and workshops to community engagement initiatives. They want their visitors to not only view art but to engage with it, to ask questions, and to explore the deeper meanings behind each creation. They are committed to facilitating meaningful connections between creators and patrons, fostering collaborations that result in the co-creation of the art collection they seek. From emerging talents to established artists, Strike-Slip Gallery offers a safe space for artists who embrace their unique voices, experiment, and play with freedom to find the next generation's voice.

🔥Dear Community is a grassroots movement that started during the pandemic to create a safe space and support local businesses during the lockdowns. Our mission is to uplift Asian pride and inspire new leaders through community building and activism.🔥
